Cozumel 2007
Hello! It's has been awhile since I last posted on this site. We've been really busy with the store. Anyway, we finally got a chance to go on vacation and this year we decided to go to Cozumel, Mexico instead of the usual Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was a good decision because Cozumel is beautiful - clear, warm waters, lots of sunshine, safe and family-friendly. Here are our pics.
We stayed at the El Cozumeleno Beach Resort, which we highly recommend to everyone. It's an all-inclusive resort and the staff are all very nice. The resort is very clean as well.
It was a relaxing week for me and Joey. The kids had a blast snorkeling and swimming in the pool. They even got to do a dolphin encounter at Chankanaab Park.
We also went to Punta Sur Ecological Reserve and visited the Celarain lighthouse and saw some alligators. Along the coast at Punta Sur is where sea turtles lay their eggs.
Joey did a crash course on getting his PADI diving certification. Did you know that Cozumel has the second largest reef in the world? It's next to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Cozumel's reefs were discovered by famous oceanographer Jacque Cousteau. Anyway, after 3 days of reading and tests (diving to 25-30 feet), he finally got to do his first dive on Thursday morning. He actually did two dives - the first one at 82 feet and the second dive at 62 feet.
I'll be posting pictures of the kids' dolphin encounter and Joey's diving experience and what he saw "under the sea" soon!
